Yardley Area Prepares For Winter Storm
Officials have declared a snow emergency, with forecasts calling for a much as 11 inches of snow starting on Sunday.

YARDLEY, PA — Yardley-area officials have declared a snow emergency as the region prepares for a winter storm that could bring as much as 11 inches of snow.
In Yardley, police will be implementing a temporary no-parking order along East Afton Avenue and South Main Street starting at 4 p.m. Sunday. The restrictions will be enforced by officers in order to help with snow removal.
The department also is asking that all vehicles be removed for borough streets whenever possible and that residents not drive during the storm unless absolutely necessary. Any questions may be addressed to the police department at 215-493-2782 or contact@yardleypd.org.

Lower Makefield Township has declared a snow emergency. The declaration will go into effect at 11 p.m. Sunday.
Police Chief Kenneth Coluzzi said the township's emergency operations center will be in effect as of 7 a.m. on Monday. Anyone with "true emergencies" should call 911, police said. For all other issues, they are asked to call the emergency center at 215-493-4055.

During the snow emergency, motorists should stay off of the roadways and no vehicles should be parked on major highways or township roads, police said.
In the event of power outages, the township will notify residents on the locations of warming stations, comfort stations and shelters, police said.
Forecasters have increased snowfall accumulation predictions, now saying as much as 11 inches could fall in suburban Philadelphia.
The National Weather Service issued the watch, which is in place starting at 6 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Tuesday.
"Heavy snow possible," the watch alert states. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 11 inches are expected and winds could gust as high as 45 mph.
