Yardley Chanukah Village Celebrates Holiday Sunday
A Grand Menorah Lighting takes place at Buttonwood Park to celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights.

YARDLEY, PA —The borough will celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights on Sunday.
The Yardley Chanukah Village is free to all members of the public with the event starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, on Main Street.
Residents can pick up a map at Buttonwood Park and stroll down Main Street to enjoy activities, giveaways, and treats from participating vendors.

At 4:15 p.m., there will be the Grand Menorah Lighting at Buttonwood Park featuring music, Latkas, and Chocolate Gelt. An RSVP is required at www.jewishyardley.com.
The Festival of Lights is celebrated this year from sundown on Thursday, Dec. 7, through the evening of Friday, Dec. 15.

Hanukkah is the Hebrew word for dedication. The eight-day observance commemorates the reconsecration of the Second Temple of Jerusalem after Jews rose up against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt in Second Century B.C.
