YARDLEY, PA — A Yardley Borough Police officer best known locally for an appearance on "Jeopardy!" is making some advances in his day job, too.

On Tuesday, Yardley Borough Council unanimously voted to promote officer Adam Clark to the rank of corporal. Clark was given his oath of office by Mayor Chris Harding and had his new rank insignia pinned on by his daughter, Lilly.

Clark got lots of local notice for a hometown-inspired wager during his September 2019 appearance on "Jeopardy!"

Competing on the iconic trivia game show, Clark — who also has a "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" win under his belt — hit on a Daily Double. Pondering the category "One-Word Book Titles," Clark wagered an unusual amount: $4,133.

As any local sports fan knows, the Philadelphia Eagles had beaten the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl that year by a score of 41-33.

"Many may remember Cpl. Clark from from his appearances on 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' and 'Jeopardy!' but we in Yardley know him for his many other skills and accomplishments," borough officials said in a social media post.

Clark holds an associate's degree and certification from Montgomery County Community College and has served with Yardley Police since March 2014. In 2017, he was appointed as a police officer first class and has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, training coordinator and intelligence liaison officer to the Pennsylvania state and Delaware Valley criminal intelligence centers.

He has received multiple letters of commendation and earned two unit citation awards.

Last January, Clark said he took the 'Jeopardy!' test 10 times before earning his way onto the show and, to prepare, he practiced, making flash cards for U.S. presidents, world capitals, state capitals, Shakespeare quotes and more.

"Ultimately, none of that was on the show," he said. "But I went in there prepared. I did everything I could and I gave it my best shot."
