5th Highest Mega Millions Jackpot Expected On Friday
The Mega Millions jackpot is expected to be $1.15 billion. The one-time cash payout option should be around $516 million before taxes.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Mega Millions jackpot, which has not been won since September, continues to grow, according to lottery officials.
Friday’s jackpot is expected to be around $1.15 billion or the fifth largest in the game’s history. The one-time cash payout, before taxes, is expected to be $516.1 million. The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 302.5 million.

- $1.537 billion: Oct. 23, 2018

- $1.15 billion: Dec. 27, 2024 (anticipated)
- $1.128 billion: March 26, 2024
- $1.050 billion: Jan. 22, 2021
- $810 million: Sept. 10, 2024
- $656 million: March 30, 2012
- $648 million: Dec. 17, 2013
The game, which costs $2 a ticket, is in its 29th year and, effectively, is the nation’s lottery game since tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The drawings are held on Tuesday and Friday nights just before 11 p.m.

No one has won the jackpot since Sept. 10, when a player from Texas purchased the $810 million winning ticket.
