Rhode Island Drug Task Force Takes Down 2: Cops

The men were arrested by the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force, police said.

Two Rhode Island men were arrested by the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking task force, police said.

Aaron Cabreja, 31, of Cranston and Joseph Rothermel, 42, of Warwick were arrested Aug. 7, the state police said in a media release.

Cabreja was charged with possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, possession of firearms by certain persons prohibited, possession of a firearm ehile committing a controlled substance violation and distribution/manufacture of a controlled substance near a school zone, according to the release.

Rothermel was charged with possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, according to the release.

Both Cabreja and Rothermel were "transported to the Lincoln Barracks for processing and then turned over to Third District Court officials for arraignment," the release said.
