Rhode Island State Police Investigating Inmate Death: Official
The inmate died at the Intake Service Center.
CRANSTON, RI — The Rhode Island State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Intake Service Center, a Department of Corrections official said.
“On Saturday morning correctional staff at the Intake Service Center (ISC) responded to a request for medical attention," J.R. Ventura, the chief of information & public relations/public information officer for the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, said in an email.
"Staff immediately began performing life-saving measures and called for Cranston Fire and Rescue, who assumed lifesaving efforts which were unsuccessful," Ventura said. "The incident is under investigation by the Rhode Island State Police. The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the official cause of death.”
