KINGSTON, RI — The University of Rhode Island will host a first-of-its-kind technology showcase.

The showcase is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23 at the Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering.

The showcase is free and open to the public but those planning to attend are encouraged to register, according to a media release, which said the event is a collaboration spearheaded by the URI Research Foundation, and RIHub with the College of Business and the College of Engineering also serving as the primary sponsors.

“We haven’t done a campus-wide showcase to highlight the innovations coming out of URI,” Joe Loberti, a consultant, URI Research Foundation, said in the release. “The trend now is to try to commercialize those product innovations and build startups that can scale, as opposed to just licensing them out to industry.”

The technology showcase is part of a broader slate of RI Startup Week events, according to the release.
