Barrington Lights Up Night on First Day of Winter

More than 1,000 luminaries lit up neighborhoods throughout Barrington on the first day of winter.

More than 250 Barrington homesΒ lit more than 1,000 luminaries Saturday night, Dec. 21, for the annual β€œLight Up the Night” event on the first day of winter – the winter solstice.Β 

Luminaries were spotted in the Nayatt, Alfred Drowne, Hampden Meadows, Primrose Hill, Country Club Plat, Rumstick, Bay Spring and Haines Park neighborhoods.

The luminary kits were sold by Friends of the Bay Spring Community Center to raise funds for support of the infrastructure of the recently reopened community center on Narragansett Avenue.

β€œIt really as nice to neighbors coming together in support of the BSCC,” said Dave Parkhurst, president of the organization.

β€œWe are looking forward to growing the luminary night event each year until the entire town lights up,” Kim Fournier, who headed the luminary sales again this year.
