Fuller Craft Museum Announces Current, Upcoming Exhibtions

The museum will present its members' exhibition on Saturday, June 25.

Fuller Craft Museum presents local artist Debora Baronas of Barrington, R.I., featured in the museum's 2016 biennial members exhibition June 25 through Sept. 18. The artist's work, entitled, "Tying," from the project, "Into the Shade," will open with a reception on Sunday, June 26 frmo 2-5 p.m. with a 3 p.m. lecture by Jesa Damora of FunnelCake Marketing and Artisan’s Asylum.

Originally developed to showcase the talent of our member artists, this juried exhibition remains one of the most impacting ways to celebrate the important role our members play in the cultural life of our community. Open to most media and all themes, the exhibition promises to spotlight a diverse group of students, emerging makers, mid-career artists, and established professionals.

Member artists chosen for the exhibition are Deborah Baronas, Judy Bergman Hochberg, Allison Cooke Brown, Scott Currier, Kelly Daniels, Linda DiFrenna, Gary Duehr, Thomas Durand, Deborah Epstein, Todd Erickson, Deb Fairchild, Charlotte Forsythe, Jeanne Garrison, Darlene Gillan, Katherine Glover, Reme Gold, Steven Hahn, Beth Harwood, Rosemary Hoffenberg, Mary Hurwitz, Lisa Jacobson, Janet Kawada, Edward Krent, L. Michelle Law, Adam MacMillan, Virginia Mahoney, Tim Ian Mitchell, Toni Newhall, Irina Okula, Marilyn Richeda, Stephanie Roberts-Camello, Lois Russell, Chuck Sharbaugh, Janice Smyth, Derrick A. Te Paske, Steven Travis, Larisa Waya, Melita Westerlund and Jim Zink.

The juror for the exhibition is James Lawton, professor of ceramics and director of the Department of Artisanry at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. James Lawton earned his bachelor's degree in constructive design at Florida State University in 1976 and MFA in ceramics at Louisiana State University in 1980. In his career as professor and artist, Lawton has been awarded the National Endowment Visual Arts Fellowship and was elected to the International Academy of Ceramics in 2011.

Current and upcoming exhibitions at Fuller Craft Museum include the following: The Faces of Politics: In/Tolerance (April 16-Aug. 21), CounterCraft: Voices of the Indie Craft Community (May 7-July 10), Paper and Blade: Modern Paper Cutting (Feb. 20-July 31), Metamorphosis: The Art of Altered Books (July 30-Nov. 6), (413): Pioneering Western Massachusetts (Aug. 30-Nov. 27) and Old Sole of the New Machine: Steampunk Brockton – Reimagining Shoe City (Sept. 10-Jan. 1, 2017).
