Bristol Man Arrested in Portsmouth on Domestic Assault Charge
The following is based on reports from the Portsmouth Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A Bristol man was sent to prison following his arrest on Jan. 29 by Portmouth Police.
Following his arrest on one count of domestic simple assault, officers presented Christopher Adams, 24, for arraignment in Second District Court, Newport, where he was ordered held without bail for violating terms of a no contest plea from November, 2012, on an unrelated charge of larceny under $1,500 brought by Bristol Police.

Portsmouth Police reported that they stopped the car driven by Adams on Tuesday at 9:15 am on Turnpike Avenue.
According to police reports, officers were first alerted to an alleged domestic dispute inside a vehicle, which was seen stopped on Bristol Ferry Road. The vehicle was later seen on Turnpike Avenue.

Police say Adams allegedly struck the passenger, a 21-year-old Bristol woman, in the head.
Adams is scheduled to appear at status conferences in both cases on Feb. 5.
