Construction Business Catches Fire In Warren
Scott's Corporation, a Warren-based construction and landscaping business, caught fire Saturday afternoon, fire officials say.
WARREN, RI — A Warren construction and landscaping business caught fire Saturday afternoon, according to fire officials.
Warren firefighters responded to a report of heavy smoke around 2:38 p.m. at Scott's Corporation at 280 Market St. When crews arrived, they found a large fire coming from a garage in the back of the building.
"Our firefighters made much effort toward an aggressive interior attack, and after some time, fire conditions had worsened throughout the roof and void spaces, where Tower Ladder 1 had an advantage of spotting and extinguishing the flames," Fire Chief James Sousa said in a news release. "The bulk of fire was knocked down within the hour."

Fire officials said extinguishing the flames required five of the town's fire engines. Firefighters from several neighboring communities also helped on scene.
"We'd like to extend our appreciation to Warren Police Department for keeping the area safe, the Bristol Fire Department-RI, Rehoboth, MA Fire Department, Swansea Fire Dept for assisting on scene, and Portsmouth Rhode Island Firefighters for taking our medical runs during the incident," Sousa said. "Our thoughts are with the owners of this business, as they are huge supporters of our department."
