Movies to Frighten, Art to Enlighten

Scary Flick:Ā Rogers Free Library kicks off its seriesĀ Hitchcock Wednesday nights on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. with a showing of — appropriately enough — the filmĀ Hitchcock.Ā Peter Weldy hosts the presentations, which also includeĀ MudĀ on Sept. 11;Ā 42Ā on Sept. 18;Ā AdmissionĀ on Oct. 2 and AmourĀ on Oct. 9. Free.

Open Air Art:Ā The Paint Bristol group sets up their easels for aĀ plein air art eventĀ on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Don't know what that means? Simply put, the artists will create new works featuring scenes of BristolĀ on Saturday, then put their work up for display and sale on Sunday at Linden Place. A unique chance to get some unique art. They're the Prey:Ā The Audubon Environmental Education CenterĀ in Bristol is hostingĀ Raptor WeekendĀ on Sept. 7 and 8, including liveĀ flight presentations, educational programs, and events for all ages. $12 for adults/$6 for kids. Still Operating:Ā East Bay Newspapers reported late last week thatĀ Prudence Island Ferry Inc. will still operate its routeĀ from the Bristol dock for the time being. Owner Bruce Medley announced his retirementĀ after Rep. Ray Gallison proposed the creation of a state authority to oversee the operation. Though Gallison withdrew the bill, Medley's plans seem to be vague, according to local officials.
