Quality of Prudence Island Ferry Service Goes Under Scope

What is the quality of service to customers by the Prudence Island Ferry?

The RI Public Utilities Commission (PUC) will get an earful on the ferry service from the Prudence Island Planning Commission Saturday morning, Jan. 4, according to eastbayri.com. The session starts at 9 am in the Hope Brown Center at Farnham Farm.

The PUC asked the planning commission specifically to comment on whether the ā€œquality of service provided by (Prudence Island Ferry) is sufficient to meet the public convenience and necessity.ā€

The request for comment is part of the PUC’s hearings on an application from A&R Marine of Portsmouth to operate a second ferry service to Prudence Island from Bristol. Prudence Island Ferry has been the only provider to the island for decades.Ā
