Scammers Posing As Officers In Fundraising Scam: Bristol Police

According to Bristol police, scammers are pretending to be associated with the local police union and claiming they are raising money.

BRISTOL, RI — Bristol police have warned the public to watch out for a recent phone scam.

According to police, scammers are pretending to be associated with the local police union and claiming they are raising money.

"The Bristol Police Department and any local police union associated with our department are not currently conducting any fundraising efforts over the phone or by any other means," Bristol police said in a Facebook post. "There is an active scam targeting residents, where callers falsely claim to be raising money on behalf of our department and other local police agencies."
