Benny's, Mr. Taco: See The Businesses Coventry Misses The Most

Coventry Patch readers shared the shuttered businesses they miss the most.

COVENTRY, RI — Rhode Island is known for its niche culture, nostalgia for closed businesses and penchant for giving directions based on those shuttered businesses. Patch wanted to know what places Coventry residents miss the most, from classic throwbacks to businesses that just recently closed their doors.

More than 70 Patch readers weighed in, resurfacing plenty of bygone favorites. In true Rhode Island fashion, the most-cited store was Benny's, the quintessential small-town store that dotted the Ocean State for close to a century. The sprawling Coventry store on Tiogue Avenue closed its doors in 2017.

Others said they missed the water slides that used to be right next door to the Benny's store on Tiogue Avenue.
