Construction Truck Bursts Into Flames on Hopkins Hill Road

Fire crews responded to the incident which occurred in close proximity to the Coventry-West Greenwich line.

 

At about 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Terry Lynch, owner of TR Lynch Construction in Warwick, was traveling on Hopkins Hill Road near Rte. 95 exit 6A when he made the startling realization that smoke had begun billowing from the dash of his white Chevy pickup truck. 

He pulled over, got out and called 911.

"Within five minutes the whole thing was up in flames," Lynch said.

Mishnock Fire companies responded, and a state police cruiser and Coventry Police cruiser blocked off the section of Hopkins Hill Road from the exit to just past the highway underpass while the truck fire was put out.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
