Family Of 3 Displaced After Fire Destroys Coventry Home

Coventry fire officials say the house fire on Marie Drive likely started in a car on the property.

COVENTRY, RI — A house fire in Coventry on Tuesday morning displaced a family of three, fire officials said.

The fire started around 9 a.m. at a home on Marie Drive. When firefighters arrived, they found a car and the home engulfed in flames.

Fire Chief Frank Brown told ABC 6 New the fire was contained in about 15 minutes, but the house was a total loss.

No injuries were reported. Brown told WPRI 12 the two adults and their child who lived in the home all escaped safely with their pets.

The fire likely started in one of the vehicles, but the cause remains under investigation, Brown told ABC 6 News.
