Five Things You Need To Know Today, June 17

Today is Monday, June 17, 2013 and here are five things you should know about.

 

DPW Summer Hours: Residents (especially those with Monday garbage collection), please take note that today, June 17, the Coventry Department of Public Works will begin operating under summer hours (6 a.m. - 2 p.m. for trash/recycling collection). Be sure to have your trash at the curb by 6 a.m.!

Community Blood Drives: Be a hero and donate blood! The Rhode Island Blood Center will be collecting donations at the following locations in Coventry today:

  • Maple Root Baptist Church (150 Harkney Hill Rd.) from 5-8 p.m.
  • Dunkin Donuts (2251 New London Tpke.) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Fellowship Hall of Knotty Oak Baptist Church (793 Washington St.) from 3-6 p.m.

CPL Book Group: Today at 1 p.m., the Coventry Public Library will host its monthly Book Discussion Group. Participants will discuss the Library's June Selection, 31 Bond Street by Ellen Horan.

Town Council Meeting: The Coventry Town Council will meet this evening at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall (1675 Flat River Rd.). Click here for tonight's agenda.

Plan Ahead - CCFD Hearing: A hearing will take place tomorrow, June 18, regarding Central Coventry Fire District Special Master Richard Land's request of the court to authorize the return of the district's 2009 ladder truck to the lender. The hearing will take place at 9:30 a.m. in Courtroom 11 of Providence County Superior Court (250 Benefit St., Providence). Click here to view the hearing documents.
