This well-loved Jeep Cherokee is a fine example of the increasingly-desirable XJ model years from 1984 to 2001, known for its boxy styling, bulletproof chassis and on- and off-road credentials.

Thacker said the Jeep was left locked, so the thief or thieves broke their way in and hotwired it. He worries that it has already been stripped down for parts. And since his XJ was such a clean example, his fears are well founded since they’re increasingly rare.
“But hopefully some punk kids just took it for a joy ride through the woods,” he said.
