Obituary: Clifford H. Slauenwhite Jr.

The retired Coventry Police Lieutenant passed away on Dec. 2, 2012.

 

SMYRNA, ME - Clifford H. Slauenwhite Jr., 69, died Dec. 2, 2012 in Smyrna, Maine. He was born Jan. 27, 1943, in Meridan Conn., the son of Clifford H. and Mildred (Clark) Slauenwhite Sr.

He is survived by a brother, Rodney Slauenwhite of Oakfield; sister, Gayle Sirois of Millinocket; goddaughter, Christie Cihat of Coventry, R.I.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; very good friends, Larry Dickinson, Bruce Fowler and many others too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Vicky; a son, Eric; and a brother, Eugene.

Clifford was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during Vietnam. He was retired from the Coventry Rhode Island Police Dept. and Aroostook County Sheriff's Dept.

Clifford became a probationary police officer in Coventry on Dec. 13, 1971 and a permanent member of the department on Jan. 7, 1972. He made the rank of Sergeant on Aug.10, 1977 and then on to Lieutenant on Jan. 18, 1986. He retired from Coventry on Jan. 8, 1988.

Graveside services with full military honors were held at noon on Friday, Dec. 7 at Oakfield Cemetery with the Rev. Benjamin Creelman officiating. Rev. Creelman is also a retired Lieutenant of the Coventry Police Department and flew in from Port Charlotte, FL to perform Clifford's services.
