One Hurt after Fire at Coventry Assisted Living Facility
The fire, which broke out at around 4:30 a.m. at Summer Villa on Laurel Avenue, is under investigation.

Coventry firefighters rushed to the Summer Villa assisted living facility on Laurel Avenue early Friday morning after a fire broke out in a resident’s room.
About 50 people were evacuated after the fire broke out at around 4:30 a.m. One resident was transported to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries, firefighters said.
The two alarm fire spread quickly and crews from across Coventry responded to tackle the blaze and help manage the crowd of displaced residents, some of whom were transported by bus to a nearby assisted living facility.

The first crew to respond worked quickly to find and remove the lone person hurt by the fire. That person was found unconscious and transported to Kent County Hospital.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined.Â
