Pedestrian Struck by Car on New London Avenue

A Coventry man was seriously hurt but is expected to survive.

COVENTRY, Ri—A person walking near the Wendy's on New London Turnpike was seriously hurt after being struck by a car Saturday night.

Coventry police Lt. Matthew Blair said in a news release that the victim, a 41-year-old man from Coventry, was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to survive.

The incident happened at around 8:30 p.m.

The driver, a 69-year-old Coventry woman, was released from the scene and no charges are expected to be filed.

The accident is still under investigation by the department's accident reconstruction team.
