RI Election 2022: Early Voting Begins In Coventry

COVENTRY, RI — Election Day is fast approaching in Cranston and the rest of Rhode Island. Starting Wednesday, early voting began in the city and the rest of the Ocean State.

Coventry residents are able to cast a ballot early, mail-in their votes, or vote at their polling place.

Here's some important dates to know:

• Election date: Nov. 8
• Early voting: Begins Oct. 19 Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Town Hall Annex Location at 1675 Flat River Road
• Election day polling hours: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Check if you are registered to vote.
• Find out where you vote.
• Track your mail-in ballot.

What Am I Voting For?

The two biggest races to watch in Rhode Island are for governor and the Second U.S. Congressional District. Incumbent Democratic Gov. Dan McKee will square off against Ashley Kalus in the general election.

Republican former Cranston Mayor Allan Fung is facing Democratic state General Treasurer Seth Magaziner in the race for congress.

According to the most recent Boston Globe/Suffolk University poll taken between Oct. 1 and 4, Fung is up eight points against Magaziner.

If Fung wins, he'll be the first Republican to serve in U.S. Congress for Rhode Island since Ronald Machtley, who served from 1989 to 1995. The poll shows Fung up 45 percent-37, though Thursday night's debate could give Magaziner a chance to make up some ground.

Also on the ballot are races for representatives in the state senate and state house.
