RI State House: Reps Unite For Bow Ties Against Bullies
Coventry Rep. Bobby Nardolillo is bowing out after Wednesday because he's running for U.S. Senate. Cranston's Rep. Lancia will carry on.

COVENTRY, RI — Thursday, everybody at the Statehouse is urged to wear a bow tie or scarf as a statement against bullying, state Rep. Bobby Nardolillo's office said. Nardolillo (R-Dist. 28, Coventry) and Rep. Robert Lancia (R-Dist. 16, Cranston) are the two lawmakers behind the fourth annual Bow Ties Against Bullying day. They also plan to honor Denise Panichas, Samaritans of Rhode Island, for efforts to stop suicides.
“I hope everyone will wear bow ties or scarves in support of the Samaritans and to honor Denise’s achievements," Lancia said. She and the Samaritans have fought hard to break the stigma of suicide and bullying by encourage those suffering to come forward and seek help.”
This is Nardolillo's last bow tie event. He is running for U.S. Senate for Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse's seat. Lancia will carry on the bow ties against bullying tradition.
