Rhode Islanders join nearly 76.5 million Americans who have cast mail-in or early in-person votes.

RHODE ISLAND — More than 187,000 Rhode Island voters are among nearly 76.5 Americans who have already cast their ballots in Tuesday’s 2024 presidential election, joining nearly 76.5 million Americans who have cast mail-in or early in-person votes.
According to a Monday analysis by NBC News of data from election officials across the country, 43 percent of early votes in Rhode Island were cast by Democrats, 15 percent were by Republicans and 42 percent were by people who haven’t declared a party.
Not all Rhode Island residents who requested an early-vote ballot had returned them by Monday. The returned ballots represent 52 percent of those requested by Democrats, 10 percent by Republicans and 38 percent by no-party voters.

Rhode Islanders can still vote early on Monday. Most in-person early voting locations are open util 4 p.m.
Polls are open in Rhode Island from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The campaigns of both former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, and his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris have pushed early voting to bank votes ahead of Election Day. Of early votes cast nationally, 41 percent have been cast by Democrats, 39 percent by Republicans and 20 percent by no-party voters.
Besides the all-important presidential race, Rhode Island voters will decide U.S. Senate and House races on the federal ballot, as well as the state general assembly and some ballot questions.
