Bicyclist, 18, Strikes Heavy Trailer in Cranston, Dies

Police said Sunkashka Soch of Providence entered a Park Avenue intersection in Edgewood without stopping before striking the trailer.

CRANSTON, RI—An 18-year-old Providence man has died after he struck a trailer being towed by a dump truck while riding a bicycle in Edgewood on Tuesday.

Police said Sunkashka Soch, 18, of Providence, reportedly was riding at a high rate of speed "as he entered the flow of traffic on Park Avenue without stopping," according to a Cranston police news release.

Police said Soch entered the intersection from Western Promenade at around 9:45 a.m. and when he crossed over the westbound lane on Park Avenue, he struck the side of the heavy trailer being driven by a 61-year-old Warwick man.

Soch suffered severe injures from the impact and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
