Cranston Man Who Did Time For Robbing 9 Banks Admits He Robbed Another

Justin Worley 44, known as the "Bearded Bandit," admits he robbed a bank in East Providence in 2019 with a partner who was carrying a knife.

CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston man, who had served more than six years in prison for robbing nine banks, admitted to a federal judge Wednesday he robbed a bank again in Eat Providence in December 2019.

Justin Worley 44, known as the "Bearded Bandit," admitted he robbed the bank on Dec. 31, 2019, with another person who was carrying a knife. According to prosecutors, the two men left the bank with $12,000. Prosecutors said the bank Worley robbed was one of the same he robbed in his nine-bank spree in 2012.

The two men were arrested later that night, when they were spotted at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, prosecutors said. Prosecutors identified the other suspect as Nicholas Lage, 38.

Worley pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy to commit bank robbery and bank robbery. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 30, 2025.

Lage pleaded guilty on April 1, 2021, to conspiracy to commit bank robbery and bank robbery. He was sentenced on Aug. 6, 2021, to three years in prison with three years of probation.
