Firefighters Extinguish Large Brush Fire In Cranston Neighborhood
Cranston firefighters prevent the flames from spreading to nearby homes and onto the nearby Interstate 295.
CRANSTON, RI — Firefighters spent Monday night putting out a large brush fire that started in a Cranston neighborhood.
Flames were seen billowing from the woods between Eva Lane and Locust Glen Drive. Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to nearby homes and onto the nearby Interstate 295, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported.

"We are grateful to the brave members of the Cranston Fire Department for battling the large brush fire off I-295 which occurred overnight," Mayor Ken Hopkins said in a Facebook post. "Crews quickly contained the fire, safely preventing further danger in the early hours of this morning. Thank you to every Cranston firefighter for protecting our city!"
Hopkins urged residents to take caution due to recent dry and gusty conditions increasing the risks of fires.
