Providence Man Arrested In MA After Standoff With Police
Two officers and a K9 were injured in the chase after Jesse Marinaro ran into the woods in West Bridgewater.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man is facing numerous charges after police said he crashed a stolen car in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, leading police on a chase through the woods. Three officers were injured.
The chase started around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. According to police, a man later identified as 30-year-old Jesse Marinaro was drifting in and out of consciousness while driving a gray Toyota near the intersection of Manley and West streets. When officers tried to pull the car over, he sped off, driving into oncoming traffic and hitting another vehicle. Police later determined that the vehicle was stolen.
Marinaro then lost control of the car, crashing in the woods. He then ran off into the trees towards a nearby condominium complex, and managed to break into one of the units. The homeowner chased him off and Marinaro ran back towards the woods again.

Police caught up with him as he ran away and tried to knock him to the ground. After a "brief struggle," both the officer and Marinaro fell to the ground police said and Marinaro tried to grab the officer's stun gun from its holster. He managed to set it off, hitting both himself and the officer.
While the officer was incapacitated, Marinaro grabbed the taser and ran off, police said. He then unsuccessfully tried to break into a locked police cruiser and ran off into the woods by West and Crescent streets.

Police set up a perimeter in the area, containing Marinaro in a small wooded area. West Bridgewater K9 Officer Flaherty and K9 Fedor were sent to search the area, and Marinaro was eventually found in a backyard on Crescent Street. He was still armed with the stolen stun gun, police said.
Police sent the K9 to help with the arrest, and Marinaro used the stun gun to incapacitate it. Eventually, two officers were able to take Marinaro into custody.
Fedor was "doing well" as he recovered, police said, and two officers were taken to the hospital with injuries.
