Rhode Island Gas Prices Continue To Rise

The average price per gallon is now $3.41 in the Ocean State.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Gas prices continue to climb in Rhode Island and across the country, rising by one cent on average over the past week.

The average price per gallon is now $3.41, 19 cents higher than this time last month. A year ago, Rhode Island's average gas price was $2.08, $1.33 less.

While prices are still on the rise, there is some relief from the sharp increases from several weeks ago.

"A slight dip in gas demand, possibly due to seasonal driving habit changes, is contributing to some price relief at the pump," said Lloyd Albert, a spokesperson for AAA Northeast. "Unfortunately, the ongoing tight supply of crude oil will likely keep gas prices fluctuating, instead of dropping, for some time."

The national average is close to that of Rhode Island, averaging $3.42 this week.
