Rhode Island Man Wanted For Murder In Providence Killing
Derek Sheppard, 35, should be considered armed and dangerous, Providence police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Rhode Island man is wanted for murder after a killing in Providence late Wednesday night. Derek Sheppard, 35, should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
The killing happened on Harold Street just after 11 p.m., police said. The victim was identified as 50-year-old Bernadette Ortiz.
The department asked for the public's help in finding Sheppard. A warrant is out for his arrest for murder and other weapons charges, police said. He is believed to be driving a 2019 Nissan Sentra with the Rhode Island license plate LD-715. Anyone with information is asked to call Providence police at 401-243-6406.
