Scattered Power Outages In Rhode Island Amid Gusty Winds, Rain
More than 5,000 Rhode Islanders were left in the dark as high winds and heavy rain battered the state.

PROVIDENCE, RI — More than 5,000 Rhode Islanders lost power Friday afternoon as heavy rain and gusty winds battered the state.
By 3 p.m., that number had fallen to about 3,600, the majority of which were in Providence County.

Because of the periods of heavy rain, the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for poor drainage and low-lying area flooding, reminding drivers never to drive through a flooded street.
