Sex Offender From Cranston Sentenced For Child Pornography Possession

David Hamlin, 43, of, Cranston, will serve 10 years in federal prison after admitting to being aught with child pornography.

CRANSTON, RI — A registered sex offender from Cranston was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in federal prison after admitting he was caught with child pornography.

David Hamlin, 43, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to view child pornography. Prior to his arrest in April 2024, Hamlin had been charged in 2016 and 2018 on child pornography charges. He pleaded guilty in a Rhode Island state court in 2018 to transporting child pornography.

In March 2024, local FBI agents got a tip from their counterparts in Tampa, Florida, that a cellphone registered to Hamlin was being used to access an online platform, where child pornography was being sent to an undercover FBI employee, federal prosecutors said.

In April 2024, FBI agents got a warrant and seized two phones from Hamlin. Prosecutors said both phones had pictures and videos containing sexual abuse of children on them.
