Trash Delay, Parking Ban In Cranston For Winter Storm

CRANSTON, RI — Friday's winter storm prompted a parking ban and trash pickup delay in Cranston.

The parking ban will be in effect from midnight Thursday until midnight Friday. Trash pickup scheduled for Friday will be on Saturday, and Saturday pickup will be on Monday.

Snow is expected to arrive overnight, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. It is expected to change over from all snow to wintry mix Friday morning, between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. in the southern half of the state, and between 9 a.m. and noon in the northern half of the state.

When all is said and done, Rhode Island is expected to see between two and eight inches of snow accumulation, with the snowfall amount highest at the top of the state and lower headed further south. The National Weather Service said there is still a lot of uncertainty about these numbers, however, so all of Rhode Island could see different snow totals.
