Barbara S. (Spencer) Nicholson, 88
She was known for her homemade Boston baked beans and her pie making. She was a friend to all and never met a stranger. She will be dearly missed.

Barbara S. (Spencer) Nicholson, 88, passed away May 1. She was the wife of the late Charles R. Nicholson. Born in East Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Helen L. (Stoddard) Spencer.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Nicholson was the longest standing member of the First Baptist Church of East Greenwich, a member of its choir and had served on many of its boards. She was also a member of the D.A.R., Nathaniel Greene Pettaquamscutt Chapter.Â

She is survived by her children: Maryann Coulter, Deborah G. Blinkhorn, Jeffrey R. Nicholson, Susan W. McCarthy, David Scott Nicholson and Karen L. Nicholson, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a sister, Avis B. Gardiner, and a brother, Ellsworth Spencer. She was predeceased by three brothers and a grandson.
Funeral Service Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of East Greenwich, 35 Peirce St. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours Sunday are 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church.
