Mr. Levesque Gets Head Shaved After Cole Band Earns Highest Mark At Festival

In an effort to boost students enthusiasm and performance, the music teacher told students he'd shave his head if they got a "platinum" rating at the Great East Festival – which they did!

Brandon Levesque thought his eighth grade band wasn't playing as well as it could so he decided to try a little motivation.

"Get a platinum rating and I'll shave my head," he told them, referring to their upcoming audition at the Great East Festival. The event is an evaluation of the band's performance, with the judges offering a rating afterwards: platinum, gold, silver or bronze.

Last year, Cole missed platinum by just one point.

With Levesque's challenge, the students took to rehearsals with renewed energy. Still, for a while he figured he was pretty safe, hair-wise. Then, by the time of the audition, Levesque was starting to realize he may in fact have to follow through on his pledge.

When the ratings were announced – Cole had earned platinum with a score of 96 – the band members went nuts and Levesque was thrilled enough to accept his fate graciously.

So, at eighth grade lunch last week, with yet more cheering, he had sat down and student "barber" Raven Leshin started in (check it out on the video attached here).

Congratulations to the band and awesome job, Mr. Levesque!
