College Student Targeted In Nude Photo Extortion Plot: East Greenwich PD
The blackmailer threatened to "expose" the student if he did not pay $200, police said.
EAST GREENWICH, RI — A New England Institute of Technology student was targeted in a nude photo extortion plot, police said.
The 18-year-old told an officer he was contacted through the cloud-based messaging app Telegram "by someone he thought he knew," according to an East Greenwich Police Department report.
The student said "this person asked for illicit photos," according to the report.

"Once he sent these photos, he was then asked for photos of his face," the report said.
The student "sent both nude photos and photos of his face," according to the report, and the blackmailer then "created a social media post threatening to expose him if he did not pay $200.00."

"The post was only a draft as far as (the student) knows and was not made public," the report said.
