Woman Paid East Greenwich Massage Envy With 2 Counterfeit $100 Bills: Cops
The woman tipped the therapist with the $70 she got back in change, police said.

EAST GREENWICH, RI β A woman paid for a massage at an East Greenwich massage envy with a pair of counterfeit $100 bills, police said.
An officer was called out to the Division Street Massage Envy Wednesday and learned from the manager that the day before, a customer paid for "services" two counterfeit $100 bills, according to an East Greenwich police report.

The manager produced the bills for the officer, police said, and they "appeared to be the same size and color as legitimate U.S. currency; however, the back of each contained a marking reading 'COPY.'"
Surveillance video showed the customer in question, identified as a 53-year-old woman, "removing two bills from her purse and handing them to the employee," the report said.

"The employee placed the bills near the register and returned $70 in change to (the woman who) then placed the $70 into an envelope, sealed it, and gave it back to the massage therapist as a tip," according to the report.
"Later that evening, another employee ... discovered the bills were counterfeit," the report said. "Following this discovery, (the manager) reviewed the surveillance footage and point-of-sale ... records. She confirmed that there had only been one transaction on (Sept. 2) involving $100 bills, which matched the video footage."

The manager informed the officer she wanted to pursue criminal charges on behalf of Massage Envy, the report said.
