EG Woman Charged for Hitting Man's Head with Corona Bottle

The 33-year-old allegedly was disruptive at the American Legion on Main Street and became violent when asked to leave.

A 33-year-old East Greenwich woman was charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct recently for attacking a patron of the bar at the American Legion on Main Street with a Corona beer bottle.

According to a police report, Crystal Angel Noella Duran, of 63 King St., Apt. 2, was yelling rude comments and acting belligerently inside the bar right before she committed the assault the night of Dec. 16.

Witnesses told police that Duran became agitated at around 11 p.m. and her behavior compelled the bartender to stop serving her drinks. In an effort to compel Duran to leave, the bartender reportedly told her that the place was closing soon.

As Duran began to leave, words were exchanged with a male patron. Duran then grabbed a beer bottle and smashed it across his face, causing cuts, police said.

By the time police arrived, Duran had fled out the back door on foot and made her way into a nearby wooded area. Police said they found her hiding in the woods suffering from a wound to her hand that was bleeding profusely.

The 50-year-old victim was treated at the scene for lacerations.

Duran was held overnight for arraignment in Kent County Court on on Dec. 17 and was later released on personal recognizance. She is due to return to court on Jan. 25 for an Attorney General screening conference.
