EG's Dorsey Named Little East's Outdoor Track Athlete Of Year

Rhode Island College freshman Jaimee Dorsey of East Greenwich was named the 2013 Little East Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, as well as the league’s Rookie of the Year. 

Dorsey, who had already been named Little East Women’s Cross Country and Women’s Indoor Track Rookie of the Year, became the first student-athlete in conference history to earn two major women’s outdoor track and field awards in the same season. She is the only student-athlete in program history to earn the conference’s prestigious top track athlete award.

Dorsey rewrote the Anchorwoman outdoor record book in 2013, establishing a new program standard in the 60m (7.89), 200m (24.71), 400m (54.95) and the 800m (2:23.18). She also combined with her teammates to set two relay records. Highly decorated, Dorsey captured the individual title in the 200m at the N.E. Alliance Championships, New England Div. III Championships and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Championships. She won the 400m at the N.E. Alliance Championships, N.E. Div. III Championships and N.E. Open Championships.

Dorsey qualified for the 2013 NCAA Div. III Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships in La Crosse, Wisc., in the 400m and was a member of the program’s 4x400m relay. She covered the Roger Harring Stadium track in 56.333 seconds but was edged out by less than two thousands of a second from advancing to the finals. 

Dorsey was seeded second in the national field after producing a school record time of 54.95 seconds at the Brown Invitational. The Anchorwomen quartet placed 11th at the national meet with a combined time of three minutes, 50.97 seconds. Dorsey was named the Little East Track Athlete of the Week twice, while winning the conference’s Rookie Track Athlete of the Week honor four times.            

The Anchorwomen were the highest-ranking Little East program at the N.E. Div. III Championships, finishing 10th among 25 schools.
