Five Things: Happy New Year, Frozen Clam Plunge

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Jan. 1.

Happy New Year!

Frozen Clam plunge: The Frozen Clam is a New Year's plunge takes place right here at the beach at Goddard Park. The plunge – to benefit  Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership – will be held at 12 noon but feel free to get there a little early for mental preparation and to learn more about a fantastic organization. Spectators are welcome and donations will be accepted, or better yet, become a mentor. Check out a recap of last year's plunge here.

Resolutions, anyone: If you’re making a resolution (or two), share them with the rest of us here in the comments section. Let’s crowd-share our improvements!

Christmas Tree disposal: The Town of East Greenwich will be picking up Christmas Trees (stripped of decorations and NOT in plastic bags) the week of Jan. 7. Thanks, Audrey, for the head’s up on that one!

Weather: The first day of 2013 will be cold, with high temperatures in the 30s and lows in the teens. A cool start to the year.
