Five Things: Brass Concert, Story Hour, Photo Op For Newtown
Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Dec. 22.

Story Hour at Symposium Books: Children (and their adults) are invited to Story Hour at Symposium Books. Every week they pick a new story and read it to the kids with animal crackers and fun. Favorite stories are "No Matter What" and "Jungle Explorer." Come early and help pick the story, and better yet, there is a 10 percent additional discount on everything in the store during story hour! 11:30 a.m.
Brass Concert at Lutheran Church: The Greenwich Bay Brass will perform following tonight’s evening service at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. They will be playing various seasonal pieces with “Brass Sing-a-Long” selections with audience participation. The Greenwich Bay Brass has been together in various forms since 2006. It began as a quintet for a group already playing together in the New England Brass Band and has expanded to 10 members. It is a British-style brass ensemble with its unique instrumentation. 6 p.m. Free.

On Sunday … please come:
Community Happening For Newtown: East Greenwich is coming together to show its support for Newtown, Conn., with a giant community photo op on Sunday, Dec. 23, at noon at EGHS's Carcieri Field. Bring family, friends and neighbors. This is an opportunity to express our solidarity with the people of Newtown and to bolster our own sense of community at the same time. Read more about the project here: http://patch.com/A-0yyG. To help with parking congestion, consider parking at Meadowbrook Farms. Better yet, if you live nearby, walk!
And ...
Vote for Stanley! Our own Stanley Marion’s fantastic Christmas lights display at his mother’s house on Wanton Shippee is up for the grand prize in Patch’s Deck the House Contest. The winner earns $100,000 for the town’s school district. That could be East Greenwich. To vote, click here. You can vote once every 24 hours – please do!
