Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Nov. 15.

Excellence in Education Forum III: “A Closer Look at the Rhode Island Educational Evaluation System” is the title of the third of four forums presented by School Committee members as an outgrowth of the district’s Commission on Retaining High Quality Teachers. The idea is to engage the public in a conversation about accelerating the rate of education improvements in our public schools.
Fire District meeting: The first meeting since voters approved a nonbinding referendum on merging the district with the town. The agenda is attached, right. The meeting takes place in Council Chambers at Town Hall, at 7 p.m.
Write On, a writing workshop: Well-known writer and writing coach Lisa Tener will be presenting a Get Started on Your How-to Book or Memoir Now workshop tonight, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Participants will clarify their vision and goals for their book including how their book can fit into the current marketplace and defining what makes it unique, fresh and relevant. This free program will also cover how to break through challenges like finding the time to write, unblocking writer’s block and much more. From 6 to 8 p.m.
Trash pickup delayed one day: Because of the Veterans Day holiday on Monday, no trash was picked up that day. If your trash is usually picked up on Wednesdays, then it will be picked up today. Also, leaf bags will be picked up all month long on your pickup day. If you still have storm debris, contact the Public Works department for pick up: 886-8618.
CWC meeting Thursday: Citizens Who Care is a group devoted to helping EG kids make good choices. They meet Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Police Community Room. All are welcome.
