Five Things: Facebook, Food Cupboard

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Jan. 3.

Trash Collection delayed: If your trash is usually picked up on Tuesday, it will be picked up today. If it’s Wednesday, your trash will be picked up on Wednesday, and so on, for the rest of the week.

Christmas Tree disposal: The Town of East Greenwich will be picking up Christmas Trees (stripped of decorations and NOT in plastic bags) the week of Jan. 7. Thanks, Audrey, for the head’s up on that one!

Become famous! That’s right, by uploading photos, events and announcements on East Greenwich Patch, you will gain some real cred around town. But of course it’s not all about you. Post announcements and events about cool, great, amazing things going on in and nearby EG and you are helping all of us be better connected to our community. If you have something you’d like to see on the EG Patch calendar, upload it by clicking here and finding the “Add an Event” tab on the right. (The Events Calendar is my go-to spot for the daily Five Things column, so if you’d like to see your event featured, make sure to post it on the calendar! If you have something you’d like to post as an announcement, you can do that by clicking here. I routinely post Announcements to the EG Patch home page. And if you have a great photo you think EG Patch readers would enjoy, post it to that day’s Five Things column. I am always looking for photos to use for Five Things and I would love to use yours!

EG Food Cupboard needs donations: People are hungry all year round, Chris and Steve Bartlett of the Food Cupboard remind us. Items especially needed are jars of jelly, baked beans, canned fruit, tuna, peanut butter, and cereals. The food cupboard is housed at St. Luke’s Church. You can leave food there during normal business hours.

Facebook ‘likes’: If you haven’t liked EG Patch on Facebook yet, I'd sure appreciate it – click here. Thank you!
