Five Things: First-Ever Town Hall Lunchtime Concert

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, May 15.


Lunchtime Concert: EG Parks & Recreation Department has started a new monthly lunchtime concert series that begins Wednesday. Dick & Dave’s Rockin’ Oldies will play on the lawn at Town Hall. All are welcome to come out and listen. Tables and chairs will be set up on the lawn so grab a sandwich from a local restaurant or deli or bring along a bag lunch.

Planning Board meeting: On the agenda is discussion of a recommendation to the Town Council on a wind turbine moratorium. In Council Chambers at Town Hall, 7 p.m.

Avenger Action: Boys Varsity Baseball plays Barrington at 4 p.m. You can follow all the Avenger action at the EG Booster Club website here.

EG Food Cupboard needs donations: People are hungry all year round, Chris and Steve Bartlett of the Food Cupboard remind us. Items especially needed are jars of jelly, baked beans, canned fruit, tuna, peanut butter, and cereals. The food cupboard is housed at St. Luke’s Church. You can leave food there during normal business hours.

On Thursday …

East Greenwich Fire District meeting: This could be the last time the EG Fire Commissioners meet officially, since the bill to abolish the fire district and establish a town fire department awaits Gov. Chafee’s signature. 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

On Friday …

Bike to Work Day: I’ll be biking around EG on Friday (yes, with a helmet this time!). How about you?

Goddard Park Farmers Market: It’s back! Actually, it started up last Friday (yes, EG Patch was asleep at the wheel on that one … sorry!). From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. off Ives Road (there will be a large sign).

Taste of the Town: The East Greenwich Rotary's annual event offers great food and drink for a good cause! This year, the money will benefit will go toward making Janice Wray's family home more accessible. You can read about Janice here and here.
