Five+ Things: Football, Yogurt, Peanut Butter

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Nov. 29.

Avenger Football playoff game:
Tonight's the night, after a one-day delay. After a near-perfect regular season – including a win Thanksgiving Day against Narragansett – the Avengers take on Moses Brown tonight at 6 p.m. at Carcieri Field. The Booster Club is promising free cowbells to the first 60 students (after all, you can never have enough cowbell).

After-football fundraiser: After the game, head to the brand new Orange Leaf frozen yogurt shop at 1000 Division Street, where 20 percent of sales Wednesday night will be donated to the Avenger Football team. The store will be open until 11 p.m.

December break Rec signups: EG Parks and Rec will be offering three days of trips and activities for area children, in grades 1-6, during the December Vacation week. Children may either sign up for a whole day of activities or simply a trip or a project. Registration begins today by mail. Walk-in registrations will not be accepted until Nov. 28. Camper-ships and reduced fees are available for those on public assistance. Flyers and registration forms were passed out at the local elementary schools and are available at the office, the Town Hall, the East Greenwich Free Library, or on the web atwww.eastgreenwichri.com. The department will continue to offer a full day program for the youths needing all day care. The office will be open at 8:30 am and close at 5:00 p.m. The children will participate in the scheduled trips and activities. No alternative activities are planned, so sign up now to secure a spot. There is an extra fee for all day care. For more information, click here.

National Peanut Butter Month: Just in case you missed the memo, November is National Peanut Butter Lover's Month. Did you know it takes 540 peanuts to make a 12-ounce jar of peanut butter? This and many many more fun PB facts can be found here. Now, get down to celebrating – grab a spoon and open a jar!

Your photo here! I'm looking for readers to upload photos to be featured here, in the "Five Things" column. Help EG Patch showcase scenes from around town and get a little visibility for your photography too! If you take a picture today that captures a slice of East Greenwich life (nature, people, things, weather ... ), upload it here, then send me an email to let me know it's there! elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com

Weather: It’s going to start out snowy/rainy, but precipitation should end in the morning. It will be chilly though, with temperature at game time (see above) a frosty 32 degrees. Bring a blanket!
