Free Rail To Providence: Wickford Wintertime Wednesdays are “Try it Free” promotional events designed to reduce traffic congestion along southern Rhode Island roadways and corridors. These events provide commuters free parking at the Wickford Junction parking garage and free roundtrip MBTA commuter rail fare to Providence. Wickford Wednesdays are funded by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation through partnerships with Wickford Junction, RIAC, MBTA and RIPTA. To receive your roundtrip MBTA tickets to Providence and parking validation at Wickford Junction click out the the form here and redeem it at the RIPTA/Commuter Resource R.I. information table at the Wickford Junction Train station office between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Feb. 27. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before train departs to ensure timely boarding. If you are not commuting to Providence you can still get free parking validation for the day. MBTA tickets must be used on the actual event day.

Avenger Home Action: There’s a three-team wrestling match at EGHS today at 5 p.m. featuring, in addition to EGHS, Burrillville and Hope high schools.

Parks & Rec February Vacation Sign Ups: Registration begins by mail began Jan. 28 for the EG Parks and Recreation Department's February Vacation programs. Four full days of trips and activities for area children, in grades 1-6, will be offered. Children may either sign up for a whole day of activities or simply a trip or a project. Flyers and registration forms were passed out at the local elementary schools and are available at the office, the Town Hall, the Library, or on the web at  www.eastgreenwichri.com. Join the fun: Biomes Marine Biology Center, Monster Mini Golf, Adventures in Space, Kingstown Bowl, ice skating, Aim High Academy, Roger Williams Park Zoo, Narragansett Ocean Club. Bra Trade In at Staci’s through Thursday: Bring in any old, worn, or ill -fitting bra to Staci’s on Main Street and trade it in for a new one of your choice and receive $10 off – limit 4 – through Jan. 31. All donated bras will be sent to Bra Recycle, where they are distributed to women in hardship.

Taste of the World 2 is coming! It will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Restaurant 1149. This parents' night out event is being held to raise money to equip classrooms at Meadowbrook Farms and Hanaford Elementary Schools with cutting-edge technology. The evening will feature a silent auction, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, great food and a cash bar. Numerous local and national companies have donated wonderful items for this event including tickets for four to Disney World and a stay in a hotel just outside of the resort, an iPad, wine tastings, hair cuts for every member of the family (including Fido!), gift cards to area restaurants and much more!
