Weekend Ski Trip: Some ski lovers have organized bus transportation to Sunday River in Maine for the weekend. The bus will depart Friday at 3 p.m. and return Sunday at 11 p.m. Roundtrip bus to Sunday River Maine, with a stop at North Conway village, N.H., on the way home Sunday night. The bus fare is $50 round-trip, per person. This is a 55-passenger coach bus, chartered by an EG youth organization. Families are welcome, space is limited. Bus only! You must arrange your own accommodations/lift tickets for the weekend. However, discount accommodations and lift tickets are available through our group. Please contact me for more information. Paint It Purple Night at EGHS: On Friday night, EGHS is hosting two varsity basketball games. With the Varsity Club’s help, we are going to “Paint it Purple.” The kids will wear purple in support of Project Purple, an organization founded by Chris Herren about the dangers of substance abuse and making good choices. We will have contests at both halftimes to raise money with the money raised to be donated to the Herren organization. The JV Boys Basketball team plays at 3:30 p.m., Boys Varsity at 5 p.m., and Girls Varsity Basketball at 7 p.m.
Avenger Hockey: The Boys Hockey team faces off against the NKHS Skippers tonight at 9 at Thayer Arena in Warwick. The Avengers are currently in first place in D2-South with the Skippers right on their heels. Come out Friday and support the home team!
MLK Jr. Hoops Tourney starts tonight: EG Basketball Association tells me 118 teams will be playing games in East Greenwich this weekend, players in grades 4 through 9 from Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts! There will be 145 games played between Friday night and Monday. With 3,000 to 4,000 people coming to town each weekend day, let’s make sure we roll out the red carpet! Games will be played at EGHS, Cole Middle School and Rocky Hill School.
Spring Soccer Sign Ups Open: East Greenwich Soccer Association announces registration for the 2013 Spring Recreation House League is now open. In addition to U6 & U8 age groups, EGSA is also creating a new U5 division for the youngest players. They will be running clinic style practices for all the teams.
