Five Things: Hockey & More Hockey!

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Feb 22.

Pickup hockey: URI’s Boss Ice Arena offers apublic hockey program available to men and women 14 years of age and older. If you're looking for a fun pickup game or if you're looking to challenge yourself against other competition, the Boss Arena is the place to be. All participants are required to wear full equipment. It takes place Wednesday and Friday too. From noon to 2 p.m., $6 per person.

Avenger Hockey: The Boys Hockey team will play Prout tonight at 6:30 at West Warwick. It’s not quite a home game, but it’s close! For all Avenger action, check out the great Booster Club website here. Go Avengers!

Teen Center: The Teen Center has provided a great place to hang out on Friday evenings for decades now. They meet at the gym at Eldredge School but you don’t have to play basketball to enjoy the camaraderie. From 6 to 8 p.m.

Booster Club’s Ultimate Hoedown: It's time to giddy up and head on over to the second annual Booster Bash benefitting East Greenwich Athletics! The Ultimate Hoedown-Booster Throwdown takes place Saturday, March 2 (the blizzard date!) at the Quonset O Club. Bull rides, line dancing, appetizers, dinner, dessert and silent auction – all for $40 per person ($45 at the door), 21+. Please mosey on over to their website www.goavengers.org to register. Don't miss the party of the year! It will be a boot-scootin' good time!

Vacation head’s up: I’m away (really!) through Sat., Feb. 23. Asst. Regional Editor Patrick Luce will be manning the site in my absence. His email is patrick.luce@patch.com. But if you have something that can wait for my return, please do wait. I will have my phone but will be trying to not respond to work emails!
