Five Things: Library Tea, Free Rail
Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Feb 20.

Fancy Nancy Tea Party: The Friends of the EG Free Library is hosting the Fancy Nancy Tea Party on Wednesday for boys and girls ages 4 to 8. Dress up in your favorite outfit and come have some fun. They'll be serving mini turkey and jelly sandwiches, carrots, tea and apple juice and mini cupcakes and other yummies. There will be crafts and story time. Space is limited – to register call the Children's Room at 884-9510, ext. 4. From 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Free Rail To Providence: Wickford Wintertime Wednesdays are “Try it Free” promotional events designed to reduce traffic congestion along southern Rhode Island roadways and corridors. These events provide commuters free parking at the Wickford Junction parking garage and free roundtrip MBTA commuter rail fare to Providence. Wickford Wednesdays are funded by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation through partnerships with Wickford Junction, RIAC, MBTA and RIPTA. To receive your roundtrip MBTA tickets to Providence and parking validation at Wickford Junction click out the the form here and redeem it at the RIPTA/Commuter Resource R.I. information table at the Wickford Junction Train station office between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Feb. 27. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before train departs to ensure timely boarding. If you are not commuting to Providence you can still get free parking validation for the day. MBTA tickets must be used on the actual event day.
Blood Drive: The Bloodmobile will be parked outside of Dunkin Donuts at 2611 South County Trail on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The R.I. Blood Center lost nearly 600 donations during last week’s blizzard, so donations are extra-appreciated!
Jam Night at the Greenwich Hotel: Come down and jam with host Brian Shovelton every Wednesday night at the Greenwich Hotel starting at 9 p.m.
Vacation head’s up: I’m away (really!) through Sat., Feb. 23. Asst. Regional Editor Patrick Luce will be manning the site in my absence. His email is patrick.luce@patch.com. But if you have something that can wait for my return, please do wait. I will have my phone but will be trying to not respond to work emails!
